[Dylan Hoffinger] began his dance training in San Diego, CA at the age of 13 under the mentorship of Steve Anthony Mesaros – the original workshop cast member of “A Chorus Line" who created the role of Mark. Steve sent Dylan to the San Diego Academy of Ballet, artistic home of the Tony Award-winning Billy Elliot’s David Alvarez and Kiril Kulish, in tandem with attending the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, where he double majored in Musical Theatre and Dance. While immersed in jazz, tap, Graham, Limon, and Horton techniques and performing concert dance repertoire, Dylan learned of Tessandra Chavez’s Unity Dance Ensemble and quickly became a company apprentice. This was the beginning of his exposure to the world of commercial dance.

By the time Dylan was 16, he was accepted to Joffrey Ballet School’s Jazz and Contemporary Intensive, and the prestigious Jacobs Pillow – where he studied commercial dance under the MTV VMA Award-winning music video for Beyonce’s “Who Run The World? (Girls)”, including Aisha Francis (Beyonce’s movement coach). From this experience, Dylan began diving into the world of dancing in stiletto heels, getting selected to dance in workshops and masterclasses by Yanis Marshall and Bobby Newberry.

Before moving to LA for college and joining the Academy of Villains in 2014, Dylan continued training and performing in commercial dance styles at the exhibition and competitive level w/ Culture Shock San Diego and as an inaugural member of Jonathan Sison’s <ThaMost dance team, at venues such as Spreckels Theatre and CCAE, and events such WOD and MaxtOut. Dylan moved to NYC in 2016, upon which he started training at Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway while auditioning throughout the city. Finally in 2019, he booked Hamilton: An American Musical, which brought him to Chicago – and he’s been here ever since! Dylan is a proud Chicago local and he still actively auditions in LA, Chicago, and NYC.
