Sarah Pfeiffer has taught at Dance on Broadway for the last two summers and is thrilled to join the Dance on Broadway family as a teacher and the new Administrative Assistant. Sarah grew up dancing in Orlando, Florida as a student and then trainee with the Orlando Ballet. Throughout her training, Sarah attended summer courses such as Pacific Northwest Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Kibbutz Contemporary Company, and Chautauqua. While at Chautauqua she had the honor of being coached by Patricia McBride in the “Man I Love” Pas de Deux and performing in the Washington Ballet’s Swan Lake. In 2017 she joined the Pacific Northwest Ballet’s Professional Division under the direction of Peter Boal. While at PNB Sarah performed company roles such as Flute in Fanfare, Butterfly in George Balanchine’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and various roles in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker. Her love of teaching began when she joined the Teacher Assistant program where she observed and assisted classroom teachers in the Pacific Northwest Ballet Academy.
After graduating from PNB Sarah earned her bachelor’s degree in Ballet and Arts Management at Indiana University under the direction of Sarah Wroth. While dancing at IU Sarah trained under Kyra Nicols, Carla Korbes, and Sasha Janes to perform roles such as Sugar Plum in Michael Vernon’s The Nutcracker, Russian Girls in Serenade, and Anthony Tudor’s Dark Elegies. Sarah then joined Alabama Ballet for 2 seasons where she had the pleasure of performing in productions such as “Giselle”, “George Balanchine’s: The Nutcracker ”, and Soloist Girl in Mikey Mathew’s original work “The Light That Burned My Eyes”. After dancing with Alabama Ballet, Sarah joined Ballet Quad Cities as a company dancer for a season before moving to Chicago. While dancing as a professional ballet dancer, Sarah concurrently taught Ballet, Jazz, and Contemporary at studios in Birmingham, AL and Rock Island, IL. She is currently training to receive her Balanced Body Pilates certification and is excited to bring her knowledge of Contrology and love of dancing to the Chicago community.
